After her estranged father, George Fade III, dies by a bizarre lightning strike, Gina Fade, a self-described screwup straight out of another stint in rehab, travels back to Kansas to settle his estate.
It’s been 23 years since she’s seen her dad in the flesh, and thanks to his weird church, he’s the dead body in an open coffin in his old farmhouse parlor.
The initial struggle is mourning someone she barely knows, feeling detached but also wrecked in knowing she and Dad were weeks away from rekindling their relationship.
Then Gina discovers a few things:
Somebody or something is in the house with her--
Dad was not a good man--
Air + fire = a demon stalking the Fades for a more than 100 years.
Now she's the last Fade left, and it’s lightning season on the Great Plains.
